just wondering if you already on pain meRAB before the nerve pain starts,or it happens first then go on them? Also is it a gradual build up before the big whammy?

Hi there -- not sure what you're asking exactly. Are you asking whether people take nerve meRAB prophylactically to prevent nerve pain from occuring? Can you explain further?

Hi yes I mean do they start you on any pain meRAB after surgery so when the nerve pain kicks in after few weeks if you be under control or pulling your hair out?

If you have surgery and they give you meRAB for post-surgical pain - that would be pain that is present at the time. I'm not sure how nerve pain would start later....what type of surgery? Do you have nerve pain now?

Hiya:
I wasn't given any nerve meRAB by my surgeon following my L5-S1 fusion almost two years ago and didn't require them until about 15 months after my surgery, when my flareups starting getting more frequent, likely due to scar tissue and some other issues. Post-surgery, the nerve pain calmed down in a couple of months and I was given percocet initially, then vicoden during my recovery period Hope this helps some!

I just had a fusion at L4-5 and a laminectomy at L3-4-5. I was on morphine in the hospital in an IV drip. When I was ready to come home, the doctor gave me pain medication and also medication for nerve pain. Part of my surgery was to decompress all the nerves; this involved touching them during the surgery, detangling them, etc. Some are bound to be unhappy about being touched and moved. They may not hurt immediately after the surgery but may start in a couple days, or a week or maybe even a month. So I was started on a medication for nerve pain (Lyrica) because the surgeon knows I am going to need it at some point in my recovery.

Well, in theory, if they do your surgery right you shouldn't have a recurrence of nerve pain. That's not always the case though, and most people get flare-ups now and then. Sometimes that's just the nerve getting used to not being compressed.

I was given a low-dose, general pain reliever (morphine sulfate XR) and an acute pain reliever (vicodin). After 4 months I'm off of the morphine and taking 1-3 doses of vicodin depending on the pain - which is mostly from soreness, as I have started physical therapy and am working out long atrophied muscles. I've never taken anything specifically for nerve pain, though I tried Neuronitin and it did nothing.

I was on various things in the painful months leading up to the surgery, and some things worked and some didn't; I had a terrible time on Percocet, lots of horrible side effects.

Good Luck,
David

I was just given my second months worth of Endcoet 10/325 4 times daily for l4/l5 and l5 S1 herniation.I have been feeling some strange side effects as well- can you be more specific about what you felt on these meRAB?

Thanks,
Neal
