On my 2002 dodge neon I have a P0601 error, I probably have to replace my PCM?

I also found out that there is an 8 year 80,000 mile warranty and the dealer should have to replace this, however, I purchased this vehicle from a friend who purchased this vehicle from someone else. Does the warranty still apply?
