I have been trying different size bicycles at the bicycle shop. I did some brief maneuvering and pedaling around the small store.
I believe I was told ideally, you should be on the tip of your toes on a bicycle. However, I feel I am more comfortable if I am on the seat and flat footed.
There will be many times when you will stop at a red light. If you are on the tip of your toes, then you might sprain your knee or ankle.
Also I notice if I am flat footed, I can pedal right away from a stopped position. But if I am on the tip of my toes and I must paddle the ground with my leg a couple of times and then start pedaling.
