the brake pads are? My local shop says that on newer model Chevy's, they don't make the rotor types with enough "material", so the minimal amount needed to pass safety will be deteriorated every time the pads are worn, and that I should get used to having to have the pads and rotors replaced on this car every 12-18 months. It sounds ridiculous to me, but even they even had their District Manager call me to confirm that this is the case.

These are not the factory pads, these are ones this shop put on 17 months ago (along with rotors), and they said they are at a 4 now but that when they do need replaced, the rotors will have to be done as well.
