old vanilla extract?? weird smelling?

my friend and i were making brownies at her house and i thought that the vanilla that they had was bad, but we are not sure..... it smells really sweet like honey.. she said she doesnt use it often, so she doesnt know if its normal or not..... the brownies smell funny, and the whole kitchen smells like honey-ish... like really sweet, nothing ive smelled before in vanilla extract....

anyone help??!!!?!?!

It's fine don't worry about it you can even make your own by using Vanilla beans and rum it will keep until fully used.

If it doesn't smell like vanilla...it's time for the garbage. DO NOT eat the brownies.

If in doubt throw it out! Try Vanillacrystals instead. Long shelf life although that won't be a problem because you will be addicted to the taste. It is so much better than any extract.
