I am getting both of these phones from a very nice hofo user and i'm wondering which one to use as my primary backup! From my understanding, the 668x has active standby while the 6630 has a lower colored screen which makes it teh snappy.

I searched and there are other similar threads, but i would like to see what you guys think in 2007.

850 is not a problem since I will use t-mobile 1900.

I had the 6630 and loved it but it was during a time when Cingular would have few issues using 1900 only. In fact, 850 was in it's infantile stages here in the D.C. Market so Cingular formally supported phones with 1900 only at the time. I had to pick the 6682 which I also had because it's got that dang freq I cant seem to live with it............

6630 without a doubt. The 6682 was boring IMO and I remember how much I loved the 6630 the moment I yanked it out of the box. More unique design as well....of course if i'm going old school (meaning non v3) i may go further back to the 7610!

edit: Just curious Boston..why not keep the E50 as a back up phone and move on to something like the N95? (which i'm sure you will do)

I think I may give my E50 to my kid sister. It's a nice phone and I can't see selling it for the market price.

The reason I want a 6630 or 668x as a backup is I usually like my backups to be able to have netmonitor cause I'm a geek like that. I have netmonitor files for the 6630, 668x, 7610, 6600, and 6260 I believe.

I'd go for the 6630, and I actually disagree with SymbianBlack .. having owned a couple different handsets of each (2 x 6630's, 2 x 6681's), the 6630 has a better cam... the main reason being the size of the aperture let in more light, so it did better in low light shots, and processed normal shots better.

I loved the 6630, it's probably my second favorite S60 phone to date... the keypad is way more comfortable then the 668x, and other than Active Standby, it has everything you'd expect. The processor was slightly faster than the 668x, and when using it as a cam, it's much more comfortable to hold.

In addition, I HATE how loose the slider gets on the 668x series, whereas the 6630 was built like a tank.

I also prefer the 6630, it's built better, and is actually thinner and lighter than the 668x. However, I'm a photography nut and the 668x to me has a significantly better screen. (Please, no arguing if you can't tell the difference between 262K and 65K colors.)
