Old receiver hook up question

My 4700 has been sitting around since I got the 6120 package 2 years ago.
So, I ran the 82 sat wire into a new switch, connected the receiver and fired it up.
It comes up on channel 13 and prevents me from switching channels.
I did a check switch, it see's the 82 bird, the guide is functional and see's most channels, but I still can't switch the actual channel off of 13.

- do I have to actually hook the other sat cable to the switch?
- do I have to phone Bell and re-activate this thing or something.

Thanks for any help.

If your receiver was not connected it is very possible that the channels are now showing in red in your guide...or maybe they are not even there!

Make sure that the cable comming from the antenna is in SAT IN, not TV/ANTENNA IN

You say you are at channel 13? You need to change it to 03 with your TV (not the Express Vu) remote

Then press guide...if channels shows up in red in the suide you can go to bell.ca/missing channels or call BEV tech departement

We will ask you to go to menu 6-1-3 and ask you for the software and REV (Line start with DNAS....then REV)

We will then ask you to cancel once and press 1 to verify the signal. We will ask you the signal on transponder 01-13-32

If everything is good we will reset the receiver and it will take 15 minutes to 2 hours before all the channels will be there

Also when this is done you could remove the smartcard, wait until you see the system info and put it back in. They will fasten the reset process

Thanks for the response Agent, I'll test the strength on those transponders, I think most were floating around 72%.

To clarify:
- TV is on channel 90 as it's an s-video connection
- in the guide, channels I don't subscribe to are red and the ones I do aren't, which seems like I should be able to access those channels, but when I leave the guide I'm locked on channel 13.

Since it has been disconnected so long, the receiver will need a rehit. This can be done through the EV web site by logging in to your account. Be aware that very few channels are available on 82 for a 4700 receiver. There are a handful of extra channels from the basic package and a music/news/movie package (or two.) The rest is multicultural and HD programming.

I don't agree there...only one hit should do it, no matter how long it has been disconnected if software and signal are OK

Did I say it needed more than one hit? The issue here is probably that the receiver is only connected to the 82 LNB. Therefore, ALL channels on 91 will be in red (if in the guide at all) since they are not available.

Thanks guys, got it going.
I went to the ExpressVu site and rehit it, seems to have worked.

Now for the embarassing part....did I hook it up to the wrong sat??
Robert, your right, I'm getting virtually nothing for content. I'm confused, I thought 82 was all the SD channels?

I feel so amatuer, I hooked all this up 2 years ago and haven't looked back..until now.

If at menu 6-1-1 signal shows at 0% when SAT 91 is checked themn you hooked to the SAT 82

You could also run a checkswitch and at the end if you have an XX under transponder instead of odd-even yes something is wrong in your installation
