Old Panasonic RGB rear Projection TV with DVI. Can I use HDMI for PS3?

Hi, I have a HDTV rear projection tv with component and dvi. Should I just use component or should I get a HDMI cable with a HDMI to DVI converter for better image. Has anyone ever used a HDMI to DVI connection before? Thanks.
