Last night I lost my Male Crowntail Betta. He was a great one and very pretty too but he got sick a couple weeks after we moved him into a 10 gallon with our Neon Tetras. I got a new betta tonight and he is all blue. Will adding the new Betta this soon make the water go off or make the PH go up/down? I just want to make sure he won't die.

Also, I'm just wondering, whats the average lifespan of Bettas in the US? The bettas I have had in the past have all lived for a little over a year and when they get to the store they're already about 6 months old.

My last question is, will he be okay with our other fish? He is a little fiesty and we don't have a fourth tank set up yet just incase. He seems to be doing fine but I just want a second opinion. We have 3 Glow-lite Tetras, 2 Neon Tetras, and 2 Kuhli Loaches in with him. So do you think he will be okay with the others?

I appreciate any answers. Thanks!

They could live up to 5 years! that is if you take really good care of them. Bigger tanks seem to make them happy, but then, it depends on the fish.

Hi, adding him should be okay and the tankmates are all fine. Some bettas have been reported living to 10 years old, but the average is probably around 2-3 years. I have one that is at the moment 1 year old and he is doing okay with tetras.
