Old Dirt Bike... New Silencer?

I live in a residential neighborhood with old crabby neighbors. due to lack of cash at the time I bought a 85 rm250. I know that two strokes if I keep it at low revs I can keep the noise down but I don't want to buy spark plugs every week. I recently discovered the FMF pipe the Q stealth that's exactly what I need BUT it only goes back to 2003 models. My question is if I buy the silencer how hard, if possible, would it be to put it on an 85 rm250.
I don't mind doing fabrications

One thing you can do is go to a salvage yard with a tape measure and the old silencer and see what you can come up with. My friend restoring a mid '60s Honda and the factory exhaust cans from a newer Sportster worked almost perfectly and they look like they came from the factory that way. I bet there is something out there you could make work. That, or you could luck out and find a really good factory pipe and silencer for your machine.

Good luck.

It pays to be creative.

WELL if you wanna nig..r rig it then you can easily slip it on the expansion chamber and zip tie it to the sub frame . or if you know how to weld aluminum then make you a plate to connect you new silencer mounting location to the mounting location on your bike . with enough money and time you anybody can fabbicate anything to fit any thing . heck i could put a steam engine on a dirt bike if i wanted .

I don't have the Q Stealth, but I do have the regular Q on my KX250, and unfortunately FMF really designed these exhausts to be run only on late model bikes. Give FMF a call and see if they can do something for you if you provide them with the piece of the exhaust that connects to the pipe. The part I'm talking about is probably held into the main exhaust by 2 or 3 bolts and comes off when you do a re-pack. tell them your situation, they might be able to help.
