old car ford escort. question on accelerating?

Hi I recently got my drivers license and i was wondering, when i floor the pedal the car sounds crazy and goes fast (obviously and i love it but i wastes too much gas) is it bad to do that ( im pretty sure its bad because its a old car but need confirmation)? Also which is the best way to accelerate to a really high speed so i don't ruin my car?

i dont know because i know what you mean i have a old lancer and i plant my foot alot and nothing has happend to my car in the last year so i think it should be ok mate
