Okay I don't know what to do my dad despises the military and I want to join...

...the marines? Okay I want to join the marines but i am deathly afraid of my father. How do I tell him I've joined the?
marines? Im more afraid of him than the marines. I am afraid that he might physically have a heart attack. What is the difference between the marines and the army someone please explain? I've already posted this question today but I forgot to add a little more to it. Any helpful advice is dually appreciated.
 
Marines are basically the Navy's ground force. Once a war starts they usually go in first along with the army airborne and rangers. Thats the infantry at least.

The thing you have to figure out is, what job do you want to do? Some jobs are better in the marines, some navy, some army, some air force.

As far as telling your dad. Well you don't really have a choice if you want to join the military. If you can't handle telling your dad your decision, you wont make it in the military.
 
Well you're going to have to man up sooner or later with dress blues on. Tell him you've decided what you want to do with your life and TO TAKE HIS HIPPIE ASS SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Are you saying he would let you go into the Army? I would tell him I wanted a well-trained Marine next to me in battle to increase my chances of coming out alive.

If you're that afraid of your father, could you do what it takes to become a marine? Show him what you are capable of doing. He'll be proud of you.
