Ok, me and my wife are having a debate. IS A TOMATO A FRUIT OR A VEGETABLE?

I say it's a vegetable and I'm Canadian.
She says it's a fruit and she's American (from arkansas).
I was raised being told that it's OBVIOUSLY a vegetable.
She was raised being told it's either a FRUIT or BOTH.
I did research and apperently it's considered as a FRUIT by Botanists, and to a couple states (such as Arkansas), it's considered as both (a fruit AND a vegetable....?!?). And when it's used to cook with, it's considered as a vegetable.

So, with that aside, I need more votes on wether it's a FRUIT or a VEGETABLE.

And after I get a bunch of votes, me and my wuife are gunna see who was right. MAJORITY SHALL WIN. ^_^

100% fruit. Only people who don't know that call it a vegetable, like you. Sorry.

It is a fruit because it has seeds. Vegetables do not have seeds.
 
You're both right.

Botanically speaking, it's a fruit.

But it's also called a vegetable, based on how it's used in cooking. And it's NOT wrong to refer to it as a vegetable when discussing cuisine.
