ok i have a 4x4 pickup chevrolet ?

ok i have a question on my pickup its between the 78 to 83 year range and its a chevrolet 4x4 and on the front where you usually can lock and free the hub for the 4 wheel drive, it doesnt have one it one of the 4x4 that is in 4 wheel drive all the time i guess and i was wondering if i can put lockout hub in the axle so i can lock in and free the 4x4 or do i have to replace the whole front end with one that has lockout hubs or what should i do!!!!
and also if i get hubs for it so i need to change the transfercase at all or mess with it?
the so should be a do i misspelled so do i need to mess with the transfercase if i get hubs
 
if you put locking hubs on the front you will need to keep the transfer case set in high lock or the front drive shaft will just spin as that transfer case has a center diff in it for full time operation,there is a kit to change over the internals to a part time unit
 
if you get the hubs you do not have to change trans ferr case and it only full time 4 wheel drive if there is no shifter to go 2 wheel 4 wheel hi 4 wheel low
