My husband and i have a 2 yr old Bulldog and he's a great companion but he's really my husbands dog more than mine. So my husband and i discussed getting another dog that would be my companion and help keep our bullie company when we're busy. I love our bulldog but i want a slightly more active dog, one that can go on a jog and go more than 1/2 mile. A dog that can stay out in the heat for more than 15 minutes in the summer without risk of over heating like our bullie. A slightly athletic dog but not one that needs hours of exercise a day like a pointer or hunting dog would. I'm unsure about what to get, I've been checking our local shelter and i'm just not finding anything that's really drawing me. I cannot have a pit bull or pit mix as there's BSL in my city against them. And it's cannot be bigger than our bullie who weighs 60 lbs. What breeds or mixes do you guys suggest? Also the dog needs to be able to stay with my bullie and entertain itself occasionally, so no super clingy breeds, and no toy breeds at all. Any good suggestions welcome. Please don't be rude or yell. thanks guys. :-)
Just to clarify, what i meant by being able to tolerate heat is simply to be able to tolerate it better than a bulldog which we all know, bullies don't tolerate heat at all. By no means would i leave my dog out all day in 95+ weather, never!! I had looked into a Greyhound but i thought maybe they'd be too high evergy for me.
