alternator, any suggestion? I have given it a used alternator and given it a lightly used battery, it has trouble finding a comfortable rev spot for more than a minute or so, the rev will go very low and it will either die or i'll hear a surge of power and it will run smoothly for a bit, but almost every time that i put the truck into drive, it seems like the load that i am putting on it is too much, it it will die immediately if my foot is not on the accelerator..

When i've taken it out for a test drive, it will stay alive and almost immediately after taking my foot of the gas the engine will shut down again... Does it sound like the alternator i got was bad?, Or could it be something else entirely?

My father things that the engine may not be getting enough fuel, but wouldn't that kill it when i hit the pedal?
