Last night my oil light came on, on my 94 Buick Skylark with 83k miles on it. The car has been very well maintained. I know I have only a couple hundred miles until my next oil change. There was no noise with it. The car didn't die. It actually seemed to drive okay. Maybe a tad bit sluggish, but then again I became terrified and very well could've over analyzed that. I plan on taking it in tomorrow but my questions are this. Ive read that driving with the oil light on can cause serious engine damage, so I dont want to drive it too far. I have a jiffy lube literally across the street, should I take it there? Or risk driving much further to get to a mechanic? And also, what could be the problem here and about how much money could it cost to fix it? Sorry for my long question, Im just worried and I dont know anything about cars.
