I am trying to change the oil on my 95 Miata and the oil filter is stuck. I have a ratchet oil filter wrench and it just keeps slipping (usually fits perfectly). Does anyone know how I can remove it now?
BTW.. if you are not familiar with Miatas, don't try to tell me to put a screwdriver through it or loosen the seal with a razor blade. Anyone who knows the miata knows how hard it is to reach the filter. With the little confined space available I wouldn't even be able to tap the filter with a screwdriver, much less jam one through it.

spend the thirty bucks to have it proffessionally done. You could end up stripping the threads and causing a nightmare. japanese are tiny people hence they make cramped tiny engines lol

Check your filter wrench for a crack that's causing the wrench to slip when pressure is applied to it.

that one is in a very bad spot. if you can find a pair of small oil filter pliers, you can grab a hold of it by the base of the filter and persuade it to release.
