i just saw this and wanted to post it!

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/02/13/90_rizrx8_shoot-out/

the phone looks nasty...its not fair though. id like to see them compair the moto to the n95!! now that would be fair!

That wasn't really a head-2-head comparison, just reviews of two new phones.

The E90 keyboard usability issue is really interesting.

I'm not that surprised by the software complaints though. I could see the S60V3 UI not being as optimal on a small laptop like device.

..wow... that was a very analytical review of the phone and you provided a great inventory of the phone's faults and strengths. I think we are all better peo....

aww forget it . sarcasm is not the same without the tone of voice and the mastered look of "My God! You are actually dumber than I ever could have anticipated!"

Not a moto fan boy (I did kind of like the a630 I had), but even I think a phone should be given a chance. I don't think its a real comparison as there was no time really spent on the Moto's strengths, just a laundry list of e90 problems.

I do find it interesting that moto solved the one handed use issue of UIQ where SE has really struggled with it. Hopefully the next wave of SE UIQ devices will use the most sincerest form of flattery and copy the crap out of Moto.

here's my summary (using his quotes):

"The Motorizr Z8 takes a clever new design - Moto calls it a "kick slider" but I think..."banana" is more...likely to stick...in...face to create a very satisfying experience." (Ok, I was just having fun...although those things were all said.)

Nokia E90-
"So why did the E90 leave us disappointed? It's not because it's underpowered, that's for sure. If it had been Nokia's intention to cram in every piece of state of the art mobile technology into one handset, then it certainly succeeded.

So you're really obliged to use your thumbs...And nothing about the experience suggests I'm going to adapt to the device...In almost every other respect, the E90 really is a pocket-sized laptop replacement.

The E90 runs S60 FP1 (Feature Pack 1), which is pretty much the same severely-hobbled) PIM suite that's shipped in Series 60 for the past five years. That's fine if that's all you were expecting.

But we never imagined the process would result in such an awkward Communicator user interface. I'm writing as a critic who has been staunchly supportive of the concept for many years, so I'm naturally disposed to defend this kind of device."

Motorola Z8-
"The Motorizr Z8 comes from the British design team that Motorola acquired when it bought Sendo. And they've done good.

What the Z8 does well is multimedia."

First of all it's Ugly as hell and good luck typing emails on that fd up keypad.

Ohh soo hes one of those OMgz0rz the RAzr is sooo c0ol its the best phone ever because its soo thin and nice looking and thus it beats Nokia in every aspect because of its cool factor. Kinda people?

He didn't say exactly why the monkey phone beats an E90 just that the E90 sucks because its feature packed and is like a laptop replacement. He really should be comparing the monkey phone to an n95 to see who wins. Actually no, the n95 is out of its class. Monkey phone vs Samsung D900 or so sounds about right.

Please let this thread die, its not worth discussing.

He did mention OS didn't he, If so why does he think UIQ beats S60 if more people prefer S60?

Thank you. And obviously if you're as intelligent as you say you are you would've seen that I never meant my post to be a clever insight or an indepth breakdown of each phone. You can't possibly since they're not out yet and no one's played with one yet. However, based on Moto's past track record, all of their products are always full of hot air.

Agreed. I cannot understand why they cannot seem to pull themselves away from that horrible Razr look. It is so incredibly overplayed. I would rather carry a 2651 if it was me.

I also would like to point out on a little sidenote that I had earlier today, I think that if Nokia had released a quadband version of the 7270, it would have hit just as hard as the razr.

But you have to admit that he seems familiar with Nokia and series 60. It didn't seem like a blind uneducated opinion, perhaps biased though.

Lol, yeah no kidding. Can you imagine the rush, although I would had to see such a unique phone become so overplayed like the Razr.

he has an e70 as said in the article!! but i think that phone looks like crap, to be honest though, i think the idea of a touchless screen uiq is a good idea, but useless. whats the point of that if symbian all ready has s60?
