Oh My boss offered me kinda promotion...ha-ha?

okay, I work as an office - manager for retail company...I work good...and everyone knows...I decided to leave the company cause I just graduated from uni and have degree in economics and also got a job offer (quality specialist)...when my boss asked me why i am going to leave, i told him that I doubt if i have opportunities to be promoted ..bla-bla-bla..And then he told me : Okay, I can offer you a sales assistant position in our shop (mass market clothes)...This is a promotion ! And Also I keep your salary rate cause sales assistants get less money... OMG...I am shocked actually...Is he okay or not???
yeahhhhhhh..Right.....i don't want to be used !!!!!!! and i told it him!
 
You've gone to alot of trouble to get a degree and branch out into a new field.

One person's job offer doesn't equal a career move. If he has known you were pursuing your degree and have now graduated, I would question his motives as to why he has waited to offer you a promotion. Shouldn't he have recognized you were likely to leave?

I think you're right to be suspicious. So now basically, you have two job offers. Compare pay/benefits/potential of each position. Getting these details from your current boss and a committment letter from him may decide for you.

He's just gonna use you and throw you away when there are other fresh interns coming out of the uni-oven...Forget your current position and move on with your life
 
tell him it's not a promotion if you are not making more money - especially if you now are more qualified because of your degree
