often injured, slow to heal

It started about 2 years ago. I had been an active 20 something, jogging, lifting weights, playing basketball, baseball, bowling, etc... Then out of nowhere, I found out I had ITB syndrome because I had hip pain (later diagnosed as hip bursitus) that wouldn't go away. Then about a year later I aggrivated my left shoulder and then 6 months later my right shoulder. I saw a sports doctor and he diagnosed me with Left and Right shoulder rotator cuff tendonitis. I have been to physical therapy for all of the above injuries, and feel better, but nowhere near before my injuries. Now, I have a wrist problem, that is hanging around (haven't seen the doctor, I assume it is a sprain). I was playing basketball (this is the same time I sent my right shoulder over the edge) and about 15 minutes after I stopped playing basketball, I couldn't move my wrist without severe pain. I have sprained my ankles before, and those swole up, the wrist did not, so I'm wondering if it was not actually a sprain. And finally, my right knee/shin. I was playing softball this year and had a collision where I was in the air trying to catch the ball and the runner ran into me. I came down on my right knee and didn't feel anything at the time, but since then it hasn't felt right, and during the time (past two months) the muscles below my knee, along my shin, feel very tight. All of these pains are sticking with me & I'm only 29 years old. Does anyone have any ideas what my wrist injury and knee injuries might be? And more importantly, does anyone have any ideas why all of a sudden I can't keep myself from getting injured or heal?? Any info would be extremely helpful!

Thanks!

I don't have any great answers for you, but I can sympathize.

To make a long story short, I have broken my foot several times (with a brand new below-knee cast for fracture #15!), I've sprained both ankles, and broken one of them, I've torn tendons and ligaments in knees, elbows, and wrists, broke a wrist, tore my rotator cuff, broke one hip, and had back surgery. I'm in pretty good shape, I exercise regularly, and am very active -- but I have my orthopedic doctor on speed dial.

I chalk up my frequent flyer status to my very active lifestyle-- plus I think as well as injuries heal, it's never as good as before, so the more damage you do, the more prone you are for the next injury. I'm not suicidal or depressed, I don't want or enjoy the attention I get when I'm hurt, and actually find this problem pretty inconvenient (not to mention the discomfort!) I've asked a few doctors if I could have an autoimmune problem or something, but the concensus is it's just "bad luck". :-/
