Sorry to bite on some one else thread but. there are only two things those of us with a 6700 are missing out on and thats GPS and messenger functions. So here is a trouble shooting thread so we can see if we can make this happen.

Now ive been told that the messenger service for cricket, and others run on an internal server linking them to the messenger server. If this is the case can someone with a cricket (official) phone please see if they can find the setting as to where it connects to?

My angle is to try and set it up to use the Google proxy to connect, the problem i have agile messenger, and i don't have access to the connection settings other than my user information. I know there is an AIM client out there for the ppc but lets face it that sucks. I know about Ebuddy hell i posted it lol and the aim texting thing I posted something about it as well. so ive seen this forum find some pretty awesome stuff in the past lets make the FM -RG work again and lets all figure this out.

Microsoft does have a beta out of Messenger in a web page and Cricket will allow you to access it:

http://mobile.msn.com/pocketpc

Other than that, it's clear to me that the Cricket firewall is blocking most outbound traffic. One way to get passed the firewall is to use a PING tunnel, since the firewall does allow ping and associated replays. There is software like PingTunnel that will do that, but no ports to PocketPC and even on Windows (assuming you connect your PPC to a laptop), it's a bit of a hack. Of course the benefits are full Internet access. I am not going to bother with it since I don't want to get in trouble and the Google proxy is fine for me. Also, I really like my Cricket service.

Oh, having a list of URL's the Cricket allows passed the firewall would be useful. Maybe I could all try to build it out.

I knew about the MSN mobile site what im looking to do is use an application but your right about crickets proxy. what im wondering though is the mms does not go through the proxy so what else can be connected without it? ping tunnel would be far to much work lol

Yes, what else can you do within the Cricket network? All we know are Cricket settings from other phones, we don't know much about the services provided within the Cricket IP network itself.

All messenger services, available via Google Proxy:

*EDIT: For the record, you can install an AOL Instant Messenger client for Pocket PC. The only thing is that you have to use it in WiFi mode, as it will not work on Cricket's proxy.

There may be a way around this, however.
