My supervisor is about to retire. The powers that be (the Associate Director of the department above my division) decided to change the position. This Director--loves my work, keeps utilizing me for outside projects and has tried to steal me from my divison--wants me to take the job.
1. The job will now report to the Associate Director's Business Manager, rather than the division manager.
2. I am being asked to back up the business manager when she is overloaded or away (increased work and responsibility from my supervisor's current position). Basically, a second in command.
3. The position will be DEMOTED a classification, going from a 65-80K range to a 50-65K range. Somehow, at my company, more work = less pay.
4. On top of all this, I'm 13 weeks pregnant, and will be giving birth the end of September.
I've considered quiting my job and being a mom, but finances are also an issue. Just looking for opinions on what to do. They don't negotiate (previous experience).
