1995 suzuki gs500, was working fine and about 1 week before I garaged it last summer the odometer went out - looking to get it running again this summer but unsure how to fix the odometer - dont want to start it up before I know its working - any helpful hints?

Your best bet is to buy another odometer and when its time to register the bike, you will have to mark that it is not actual mileage. Even if its off by a few miles, the DMV will require it. You might be able to find a used odometer at a junk yard, or online. If not, try the Suzuki dealership and if thats the case, you can roll the odometer forward to the mileage on the bike where it stopped at and you won't have to mark mileage not actual.

Does your speedo have a cable (mechanically driven) or wire (electronically driven)? That will make a difference as to what the problem could be.
