Consider the ODE (ordinary differential equation);
dy/dx = y^2 -x

Im reading through my worksheet and it says that this means the slope of the the solution curve is y^2 -x and can be represented by the vector function:

d(x,y) = <1, y^2 + x>

Where is the one coming from ???! what does it mean?
