Odd world not working In PS2.. can you help?

My brother went out and bought the game, it works on his PS2 just fine, but when I but it into my slim, the begining freezes, I have managed to get into the game and start it but all I see is the logo... Let me make this clear, I can hear the sounds of the game but I only see the logo screen. and it is frozen there.

Is there a way I can fix it so it doesnt freeze on my slim PS2?

(this is the first PS1 game I have tried)
