I hope you guys can help me, I'd like to keep this car for another year at least.

About once a month, when I would start the car..It would idle very rough, like it was mis firing. I would turn it off and back on and it would be fine. Now it does this while driving and has consistantly gotten more frequent. It loses power but not enough to stall and the valves or exaust start making noise. This lasts for 10-60 seconds and happens up to 3 times a day (I am driving about 3 hour per day).

I thought it might be my PVC valve and replaced it to no avail.

The car is a 97 Ford Escort 2.0 with 245K miles and the only major work done was a timing belt done a couple years ago.

What do you all think?

well if you hear your damn valves why not consider putting some freaking oil in it if your a woman i can see why it makes noises and stalls and drives real shiiiiity but then again it is a ford escort enough said lol changing the pvc valve did apsolutly nothing but do check your wires to see if there broker SPARK PLUG WIRES not electricle wires get some spark plugs distributer cap and rotor and to test to see if your really a chick driving this thing get some blinker fluid to see if it helps dont worry just ask your auto shop for some oh and go to a mechanic shop and have a cataletic conveter test done also too see if its clogged or burnt up that can and will cause it to run shiity and bog down if your cat is bad then you will have a leaking exhaust manifold check that also shiit just bring your car to a tech and have it fully checked instead of trying to do it this way
