honeycombs are hexagons. If you want a honeycomb pattern you can search for one.
The easiest and most flexible is going to be if you construct one octagon or hexagon in whatever image processing program you have and then use copy and paste to multiply it. After you constructed the first cell it should be pretty fast to do.
If you have the choice between a vector based (e.g. Adobe illustrator) and pixel based (e.g. photoshop) program, use the vector based program as it's easier to scale things. Print pattern out at required size.
