Oceans Eleven PLEASE EXPLAIN????

i was watching oceans eleven the other night and go to a part when george clooney n matt damon (this was while the robbery was going on) were goin down the laser pit the pinch was set off i understood tht but wen the lazers went bk on how come the line that was holding them didnt trigger the alarm PLEASE EXPLAIN???

Because the lines were so small they didn't cut across the laser sensors and set them off.

I thought the reason they didn't set off the alarm was because the ropes weren't there anymore....
I understood it that the repelling lines paid out more rope while under load (ie with a guy hanging off them) they were set up for their specific weight so they decended at a constant speed. Once they had reached the end of the rope both Danny and Linus were left dangling above the pit floor. They both disconnected from their lines and dropped to the ground allowing the tensed line to retract back up the shaft.....
