obsessive mother in law...?

has anybody ever been expecting a child and the babies dads mother has done nothing but tell you "dont do this, dont do that," and telling you what baby products you should use and what you shouldnt? did you find it annoying? and was she abit obsessive and planning things when the baby hasnt even arrived yet?
 
You need to set up boundries with her. Tell her that while you appreciate her advice/help, that if you have any questions or needs, you'll let her know. MIL's don't understand that there are boundries between you and her.
 
Tell her that you appreciate her advice, but that you and your husband have a good handle on things and are prepared for the baby. Let her know that if you need advice (which, as a parent, I can tell you that you will) that you'll ask her for it. But let her know that her always telling you what to do and what not to do makes you feel like she doesn't trust you with the baby. It's your baby and you and your husband will figure out what's best.
