If his wife is actively campaigning and stumping for him, she's a legitimate topic for the media to report on and attack if the situation warrants it.
I'm so sick and tired of him declaring this and that topic off-limits. It's not up to him. This is the US. The media can report on his dog's worm medication if they so wish. If he didn't want to be subject to the intense glare of incredibly close media scrutiny, perhaps he shouldn't have decided to run for President.
mercer: "Slander" has an actual definition, part of which is that the statement has to be untrue. The media has yet to print one word about Michelle Obama which hasn't been documented ad infinitum. If she doesn't want to be criticized politicially, she needs to be a candidate's wife in the mold of Barbara Bush, who attended bake sales and ladie's auxiliary functions. Once she actively stumps for her husband, she becomes not just his wife, but a political player.

ambrose: Just like a typical leftist to take what I said and twist the living daylights out of it. She can talk until she's blue in the face. She can say anything she pleases. She can talk about what a worm McCain is and how her husband is actually the Annointed Son of God for all I care. The rules of the game are (and have always been, at least as far back as FDR): if a candidate's wife doesn't take an active role in the campaign, she's off-limits. Once she becomes a campaign activist, all bets are off. Why should this change just because Obama says it should?
