financial institutions. Good? Certainly not. The Fed is controlled by a Board of just 5 people, of whom only Ben Bernanke is known to the outside world at all prominently. To give these people such immense power over the world's foremost financial institution is strange, isn't it?
The better way would be to curtail the size of private financial institutions so none is "too big to be allowed to fail".
