all right maybe im stupid but really, how is obama the 44th preS? i thought he was like the 51st. ??

Obama is the 44th because continuous terms are not counted separately (1 president served nonconsecutive terms, so I think he was actually counted twice). For instance, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was elected to a total of 4 terms as president, but they aren't counted as 4 separate presidencies because FDR served those terms consecutively.
