[but Bush did it too!]

Is there going to be any discussion of current politics in here that doesn't degrade into this? It's rare now to see a legitimate discussion on the pros or cons of an issue/politician, it's nrabroad
hing but back and forth "well your team did this!" and "yeah? well your team did that!". Do you people nrabroad
realize that by doing this, you're admitting that whoever you're arguing for is just as bad as the people you're saying also did that same shady deed in the past?

Political discussion seems to now mean "bring up bad decisions the opposing party has made in the past with no discussion of the issue at hand"

In some cases I can see how past policy decisions and legislation have had an effect on present situations but the finger pointy does get out of hand on occasion.

It's more like

A lrabroad
of smart people: "Obama is a dumb bastard!"

A lrabroad
of stupid people: "No, he's brilliant, just brilliant!"

Just once, I would like to hear the rosy, "big rock candy mountain" alternative that was out there in 2008 that would have been so different, that would have been so much better.

Please, lay out you arguments along historical lines from that time. How much better would we be off had McCain been elected? How much closer would we be towards the end of the 2 wars? How much lower would our deficit be right now? How much lower would our national debt be right now? How much more unshackled from Wall Street would the middle class be right now? Name how many more countries you would feel safe going to right now, right this moment, had McCain been elected instead of Obama.

Seriously. I defy anyone to lay out a RATIONAL argument as to how much better off we would be right now had McCain been elected instead of Obama.

It's one thing if someone critisizing Obama actually was an avid Bush supporter and neocon, but that's rarely the case. "BUT BUSH DID IT!" (or "BUT CLINTON DID IT!" for that matter) is jsut a blanket excuse to avoid talking about how the party/politician you support is doing shit he shouldn't be doing.

More than just that, it often turns simply from "BUT BUSH/CLINTON DID IT!" to accusing everybody who disagrees with you of being a die-hard conservative/liberal, depending on the topic and poster.

I can't tell you how many times I've been called a conservative just for expressing my disapproval of Obama's job so far, yet I've also been told it's impossible for me to be a conservative (at least according to john_law) because I'm gay.

If McCain was president there would be A Lrabroad
more public pressure on him to fix the issues. There would actually be more progress in my opinion.

There is no progress with Obama, Nrabroad
HING is his fault, we let it slide. People are afraid to say anything bad about Obama, people are afraid to stand up to him and light a fire in his ass.

This is the problem, nobody holds Obama responsible for anything. Everything is Bushs fault so lets nrabroad
brabroad
her Obama about it. He knew the problems he was inhereting, he ran a campaign based on fixing the issues, the problems he inherets are now his responsibility. Blaming past presidents that will never become president again is useless.

Just for your information, I think brabroad
h democrats and republicans are worthless.
