Over 2 years ago, i made a horribly stupid mastake. I drove home from a party after having alcohol. Needless to say, im still paying for it 2 1/2 years later.
NYS DMV requires me to pay $250 annualy, for three years. I've already paid for the first two years, and have one more payment left.
Recently i moved to Georgia with my wife. I turned in my NY licence for a GA one. I am responsible for my own actions, and i assume i'm also responsible for paying out the rest of this fee, yes? I usually pay the fee online. It asks for my NYS licence number, and then proceeds to show the due amount. HOW WILL THIS WORK, NOW THAT MY NY LICENCE NUMBER IS NO LONGER VALID, SINCE I CHANGED IT TO GEORGIA??? The licence number that they assess my fee to, is my old, non-existing new york licence. AM I IN TROUBLE WITH THE DMV FOR CHANGING MY LICENCE OVER, BEFORE PAYING OFF THE FINE? I am not against the fine, and i take full responsibility for paying it. The annual payment isnt due for 10 mos though. I wouldnt think that changing my drivers licence to another state would get me in trouble (as long as i pay the rest of my fee, when the due date comes along). Does anyone have detail on this?
