Magdeline Makola was missing for 11 days before being found yesterday afternoon in the trunk of her car, alive but "severely traumatized" and suffering from hypothermia and dehydration. Police are now searching for her abductor.
Makola, who works as a nurse at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, failed to show up for work on December 15, setting off a search that finally culminated in her rescue after "one of the road policing officers discovered the car and heard some noises from within." A man that Ms. Makola met several years ago is thought to be the main suspect, according to police Inspector Tommy Tague, who claims that "there is nothing to suggest that this is a random attack." Makola is currently in the hospital, recovering.
