solar and wind will pay off in the longer run, but it's not as efficient, requires more area and unsightly.
in the time being aren't we trying to replace coal burning and fuel fossil?
isn't nuclear the first choice we should be looking at in the next 20 year or so
and solar and wind are still building in the mean time
why did Obama want wind and solar first?
I see many who replied still think nuclear power is dangerous.
It is not the same as it was 30 years ago, nuclear technology have improved great deal and are being used across the world.
France's electric energy is mostly nuclear, and they're building even more.

USA hasn't built one in decades. Is it because there are some powerful anti-nuclear lobbyists in DC?
yes solar and wind are the best bet but they're extremely inefficient and the additional power lines that need to be laid over impassable terrains are very costly.
The best option is for every house to own a wind turbine, and the larger the better. The only issue I see is possible SWOOSH SWOOSH sound you may hear. I would like to see very new house built with a wind turbine as a requirement. I envision a McMansion subdivision with hundreds and thousands of wind turbines turning in synchrony.
