NSAIDs post fusion

Anyone know how long after a spinal fusion that it is safe to take anti-infams? Tylenol just doesn't do it for my headaches, but my doc said no NSAIRAB. I guess it interferes with the fusion process. Anyone know when it is safe to take them again?
 
Usually 6 months to a year, depending on when your x-rays or CT scans show you're fused.
 
At 3 weeks, my spine surgeon said I CAN take nsaiRAB again, but I hear so much negative on this board that I am toughing it out. I have done my own research and have found NOTHING conclusive that says nsaiRAB inhibit fusion, with the possible exception of ketorolac and indomethacin which hardly any one takes any more. It is weird, but even in science, people get spooked and err on the side of caution even when the science doesnt support it.
 
NSAIRAB are anti-inflammatories and there are tons of information to support that taking anti-inflammatories while fusion is supposed to be going, can lead to non-union. It's not a given, but the risk increases to the point the doctors do not want their patients taking any for at least the first 3 -6 months post-op because that is a critical stage for fusion really be in full swing.

Exceptions to every rule. I had uncontrollable swelling after my fusion. It caused my doctor and me great concern. We were beginning to think I was allergic to the titanium as I do have vast allergies. I had two prednisone steroid packs through the first 12 weeks post op. And at 12 weeks, I went on Celebrex for awhile to get the inflammation/swelling more controlled. It did help and I was still fused solidly at 7months.
