now want to detox off meth

I have been taking hydro's 10/325s per day x 6 mos.(lower dose for 5 yrs before) for chronic pain. My husband is now on a liver transplant list because of being sprayed with Agent Orange in VietNam, thus developing long standing diabetes which destroyed his liver. I became afraid that I was killing my liver and wanted to change to a med that wouldn't cause me to develop liver problems and they were no longer relieving my pain. I didn't realize meth was as addicting as hydro's and now want to detox off meth after 3 wks of 20 mgs. (yes, I feel very stupid). Can I drop 2 mg. every 2 wks and still be able to work w/o co-workers aware of my withdrawals? Gosh, I am not very articulate...but hoping you can read between the lines. Can anyone give me any feedback? Just your opinions and thoughts as I try to work myself out of this mess.

Hi JeanKey - welcome to the group. I know ex-frienRAB who were addicted to meth and ended up losing everything they owned - and I do mean everything! They even stole from their kiRAB to support their habit. It is probably the most addictive drug around. Doing this on your own will be extremely difficult because of the drug's extremely addictive nature. I suggest you talk to a detox center about what to do to get off of this drug. I'm only familiar with the destructive nature that it has on people. There are not only physical effects, but psychological one as well that you will have to deal with. Good Luck to you!!
