Non-profit co-ops are replacing the public option. The government is likely to subsidize them for people who can't get or can't afford insurance. I think this is a better approach and will create stiff competition among the insurance companies. The government will write the legislation but will not be in control of health care or health insurance. I think you will see this will work as long as they address tort reform and work with drug companies to lower the cost of drugs for Medicare.
Uhmm.....don't look now, but the Democrats control Congress and the Presidency. It is they who have given up on this reform, because if they were truly committed to it, it wouldn't matter what the Republicans though, wanted, or voted.
No they will not. Like any other major industry, insurance has big pockets to fund politicians, Republicans or Democrats, to keep their mouths shut so the status quo always stays the same.
It depends on what they end up trying to do. If they can't write a good bill maybe they should wait until they can. Congress should not pass legislation just to pass legislation.
Tort Reform should be the cornerstone of any health care reform. Frivolous lawsuits cost much more than liberals will admit.
