.::Notice About Flashes and Rom's::.

Its not a rom that is a offical from cricket.
It just basically going to be a rom made from certain people here that will ease the use of everything.
It will setup everything hopefully automatically.
 
you mean that cricket does not have techs dedicated to spending time and $$$ to develope custome roms/firms for other carrier's phones so that their customers can purchase those as a cheap alternative to the pricey POS handsets that cricket offers???

Ok, so I know at times Ive been a butthead on this forum, but with that said, how do I get on the "We Love you so we will give you access to the custom Cricket Rom" list? If the answer is "Stop being a butthead" i will give it a shot but i was born that way even my wife says so.
Next question: Is it appropriate to request an opportunity to purchase someones custom Cricket Rom in order to use it to flash and sell phones?
I am still learning the rules here. But to sum it up: the cricket rom from ppc geeks that some clever fellow released a while back is a bit buggy, and I am looking for something more stable. Please write back or pm me if you are interested. Or if this post commits a no-no, then sorry.
 
your best bet is to PM to0...

he is the best at developing cricket roms for the public, and does do some biz with the other folks...

as for the "hook-up list", i don't think one of those exists.

so where does one get in on the apprenticeship thing?? I need a second job, and although the market round here is probably saturated, i could make a lil bit, i reckon. Whats the usual cut?? I figured on 20-30% the first year, then a drop off or something....
 
i get all my "flashing" done at a local shop here in san antonio. they tell us up front they use the black pill rom. the thing is that means nothing to most people. in fact most people have no idea how to use these devices! I could see you getting upset if you were charging for this; but since your not why not take it as a compliment?! i think it would be a good idea to tag it at the boot screen somewhere because credit is due. Think of it this way; if they could do a better job they wouldnt use your work.

First i want to say that altho i have flashed my phone and am grateful. i know many aren't. i didn't have to read this thread to have the respect i do for the people that make cricket on god awesome phones work. those who have come to my aid frequent the forum and have been thanked according.

for those who have not helped me, i thank you as well. with out you and your knowledge and info swapping some of this wouldn't be possible.

i would like to bring a new take to this discussion if i may. first off. i have asked stupid questions. but i am well versed with computers and i mod games and programs for fun. mostly games. so i feel like a car mechanic talking to motorcycle mechanics. i respect you guys and your work.

anyhow i think that charging is a good idea. but some things to consider are that its people like you that are driving this movement. last year i was one of a handful of people. three i believe, in my city that had any knowledge of flashing. that i knew about. now i see people all over that have phones on cricket that are from other places. granted the back shacks that advertise "come on down and we flash to cricket for $50" those guys get a lot of traffic.

the point here is that those people (i dont think) would be sucsessfull with out places like this. in addition if you charged, then people would be less likely to do it them selves as a personal chalange and or other reason such as money issues. i am an enthusiust. but i work with people who spend so much money on phones that just break or what not. its crap how companies treat us. this is just a good way to beat the man so to speak.

so basicly like big companies going after pirates. they dont put much effort in to it because they would loose a lot of fan base. if that makes sence. you wouldnt want to shy people away from doing it them selves.

call me the devils advacote here. flip side is that cricket and others like it will soon see the market in this and when they do. boy i wont have my unlimited everything for 35 bucks anymore. im just enjoying it while its there. soon im sure it will be one less hack lol.

something i thought up if this is still reliant, is to use your email feature. because i get text alerts from gmail quickly when some one emails me. so basically don't give your personal number out. but instead an email addy. that goes to your phone so you are quickly alerted.

from there you can return it how ever you will. for me i jump on gmail from my gmail app and go business as usual. but for you, you might know a way to text back with out your number being seen.... perhaps the free cricket text on there web sight that goes to cricket users. or some other cool thing. you guys are vary smart. but this is my take. i hope it dose some good. thank you all!!! i love my hacked cricket phone. whats left of it i mean, lol
 
If i may be indulged for a moment, here is my 2 cents worth....

a) to0-You are the one who got me interested in flashing. I have very limited computer skills (I havent programmed anything since Turbo Pascal in the late 80's) but have searched all over reading about flashing etc and LOVE the concept! Frankly, I have never flashed my phone after getting it with to0's ROM. I have not seen a need! And since I do not actually have to0's ROM, i wont flash over it with something else. However, I know that the person who flashed it for me is heavily involved here in HOFO and PPC etc etc. He and I have had some long talks about flashing. If I ever earn the right to get the .nbh, or another device, I will experiment. Until then, i wont mess what I view as perfection.

b) I certainly mean no offense to any other cooks! I have seen some other ROM's (VetVito, PDAJunkie, Drunk) through here and other forums. I LOVE THE WORK! I keep reading and reading and reading whatever I can find from all of you. The work and skills you all have is amazing.

c) More on point....I, for one, am very appreciative of all your work and skills. I will not use your work for my own benefit. PERIOD. I believe that you certainly DO deserve to make $$ or at least notoriety through your work. Although splash screens and boot screens can be altered, how many people actually go through the time and effort to do it? I know that that KAOS Take 5 does have KAOS name over it. I am fully in support (for whatever that is worth to anyone) of protecting your work.

I had not posted here since 2003.
Sorry to reply here, but I'm desperate. I flashed my wife's diamond and mine to the Cricket to0_diamond_v1.1 ROM. I found a link to the ROM on PPCGeeks and flashed them to it without knowing that I would be needing a serial number per phone. Now I'm stuck with my two diamond phones with no way to use them or being able to flash them back if don't get these serials.

I PMed you, to0, with both codes.
Please, to0, reply to my PMs, I really need your help.

Just wanted to post that to0 replied quickly to my PM and he is very helpful.

He even helped me with the settings on my two diamond phones when my phones were not getting wap and mms. It turned out that I had the phones on the ##778# M.IP Settings under "Mobiel IP Only" and they needed to be on "Simple IP Only"
