Not feeling well!!!

So I'm tired of going to doctor to doctor and having them all tell me something similar that never helps, or having them put me on some sort of medication that doesn't work. For the past four or five months I've been undergoing severe depression and any anti-depressants I've been put on have only made the depression monumentally worse, apparently that happens with a small percentage of people. I've had trouble maintaining weight, apparently I am slightly anemic, so I spend my days pretty exhausted and tired. I've been having diharrea for the past two weeks or so, haven't had much appetite, have been extremely tired and have been having a lot of lower abdominal pains. It's reaching a point where it's hard to function throughout the day because I'm so tired and struggling to walk up a staircase without getting winded, and I'm going to be a freshman in college next year and was recruited to go there for d1 athletics. I don't see myself able to make it through a year in this condition and I'm not sure what to do. My parents aren't supportive and I just need advice on some steps to take. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there! I am so sorry you are feeling so bad. You are too young to be feeling so lousy with all the weight of the world on you. I will give you a little advice. Unless you really really need them, antidepressants can make you feel worse than not being on them. Don't get me wrong, if you have a chemical imbalance and life is completely unmanagable then take them. But when I was on them they helped for about 6 months and I weened myself off of them. They can give you bowel problems, diarrhea, weird feelings, spaciness etc...it is a temporary fix. Sounds like you have some stressors in your life (as we all do) and you just need to weed your way through it. Just one day at a time. Do things to relax and not worry if that is possible. It will be ok.

I imagine starting college has alot to do with it. If your parents aren't being supportive I would find someone you can talk to who is. There are alot of pressures going on in this world. Just take it a day at a time. Try not to let the health things get to you. Otherwise it just snowballs. I hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself. Let us know how you are!
