I posted here last week because I had a meltdown in the Dr's ofc. I went today for a follow up since I did start taking Lexapro and Lorazepam which has helped. The only thing is my chest keeps hurting so she had an EKG done which I've had many. Only problem is that this time the EKG came back abnormal and she said it could be an exageration of the device or a small heart attack. I'm 34 and I'm so scared. I'm having an excercise stress test done in the hospital on Wed morning but I'm so scared.

rox,

How did your stress test go? I went through this too, I had every test in the book, and they all came back negative, but I still had intermittent chest pains, as well as hot flashes, neck pain, and a feeling of general malaise. I gave up coffee, talked to a therapist, talked to my wife, started exercising more, all of which helped. I was on Celexa and Klonopin for a while, but I've been able to cut back to just occasional Klonopin use now, when I feel really stressed. Try to find a good therapist who specializes in anxiety related disorders. Also, try to reduce the root causes of the stress in your life. If you're a procrastinator like me, learn how not to be one. Change jobs, exercise, take up a hobby, do things that make you happy! It took me many years to get to a point where I feel my anxiety is under control, and I still have episodes or new symptoms occasionally. The effort is worth it. It's a great feeling to look at your med cabinet where your prescriptions are and realize you haven't needed to take a pill in a while.

Thanks for replying and asking fhare. My stress test was fine. Dr said nothing is wrong with my heart. Only problem I had was that before the stress test my blood pressure shot up higher then I've ever seen it. I'm usually 110/70 and it went up to 180/96. I was having a panic attack at the moment and then started shivering. Once I got on the treadmill the shivering stopped and the Nurse and Dr were very accommodating letting my husband come in with me. It was scary though to see my BP rise so high. I still have the chest pain and shortness of breathe but I'm hoping this will get better soon. I'm also considering changing to Xanax from Lorazepam, seem Xanax has worked better for me in the past. Thanks again for asking

Do you have white coat hypertension where your bp rises at the Drs. office? I take my bp readings at home and then show the Dr. my bp soars when I have a Drs. appt. I'm glad that your heart is OK. I had a treadmill test recently too and all was well. :)
