Ok so i have had this Sony two GB micro vault flash drive for a little over two years. I even used it three days ago to print out a paper for school. Now im plugging it into my computer and it doesnt detect it. It says unknown device. What's wrong? The only types of files i have are Mp3, powerpoint, word, publisher, excel, and Mp4. How can i fix it so that i retrieve all my files and make the flash drive working?? really idc bout the flash drives, i really need the files on it though.

If it is not being recognized or is being found as a unknown device then the flash drive is broken. No chance of recovering the files unless you use a recovery program.

Sorry

It sounds like it is damaged in some way, whether it is corrupt due to removing it while the computer was reading/writing to it (and not using the "remove safely" functions), or damaged physically. Try it in a few other computers, with other operating systems if you can. I've had the same issue with a flash drive before where it did not work in my PC but it worked in others. If you can get it to work in another PC, retrieve your files and then right click it in My Computer and select format. That should fix any non physical problems on you flash drive, though it will wipe its memory. Other than that, there's not much you can really do for your flash drive.
