Not able to copy VCD (.DAT) file in ubuntu from movie CD?

I am using Ubuntu 10.10 and while I try to copy movie files (.DAT) from my movie video CD it gives me an "Error: Splicing error. file could not be copied". I was able to copy the same VCD on my other windows OS, so there is no problem with the disk also.
Any solution to this problem.
