THis question is for my dh who is in the emergency room right now. We got injured the same day but he has yet to be diagnosed.

He fell down 8 stairs on his back and ever sense has had to various degrees of pain the following:

leg pain and nurabess on the right side
back and butt burning and pain
difficulty walking
pain and nurabess has now extended to left leg
very painful hip pain

He has had 4 x-rays and 2 MTIS which are all normal. He had a EMG no nerve damage.

I had a ruptured disc with surgery and i have NEVER been as bad as he is. I never had trouble walking just pain.

With his last MRI it showed a slight disc protrusion but it was not touching the nerve.

What in the world could be wrong?? Dr at ER said there is no reason for him to feel like this and so it must be in his head  They said a back problem would show. We are so confued and frustrated. He has seen an orthopedic dr, neurosurgeon, neurologist, and he is going to a spine team next.

Any ideas or anyone have pain like this and still have no ideas?

Thanks I am so sad for dh because he is still in so much pain :(

Yes they told my son the same thing it must be in your head.

What my son found out is that muscles don't heal. The ligaments cross link and form scar tissue. Therefore they are less flexible. When you try to use them you have pinching and pressure on nerves, and all the problems you have described.

Naturally none of this shows up on any tests that they can do.

SounRAB kinda like sciatica, but the nerve conduction test should have revealed that. I would actually suggest seeing a chiropractor. Sometimes I have better luck with my *awesome* chiropractor here in Colorado than seeing a regular doctor. They can do an infrared imaging test on his spine to see which (if any) vertebrae are out of alignment. Be sure that the chiropractor you go to has great reviews, though, and remeraber - you get what you pay for most of the time! (Unfortunately)

i just had a 3 level disc fustion,i seen a chiro for a while before the surgry, doctors said that he could had made my problems in my back worse, but then i seen another chiro and she massage me very hard and then ajusted me she releaved the pain for a couple of months, but i still had to have the surgry, but i could suggest if i may going to a pain management doctor for some shoots they also worked well for me with also seeing a pt,but my back was such a mess from years of gymnastic i was just prolonging surgry, but you might want to just try, cortazon shots or a walking epadoral(im sure i spelled them wrong sorry)i really dont know if they are the same but i feel if someone said there in pain they are,its not in there head, you know your on body, just because the doctor dosent see it dont mean its not there,i had to see 10 doctors untill they found my problems.but its ture you pay for what you get so,if i were you i would try everything, and i did,but i just waited to long and hope the pain would go away on its own.good luck and best wishis;)
