I was 17 days clean from a Percoset/Oxycontin/Tramadol addiction and feeling pretty good. I do need lurabar surgery and cannot afford it at this time (yes, I have insurance to cover it, but wife lost job and I can't afford to be out of work for the 3-6 month recovery period).

My back surgeon (whom I haven't seen in a few months) saw me 2 weeks ago and gave me a script for 120 norcos (which I filled - yeah, durab). They are now gone and I'm 48 hours without. I have no really bad withdrawal symptoms and was wondering if my clean time made a difference in the severity of withdrawal or if the worst is yet to come?

Thanks

hi,
my experience is that after going cold turkey the 2nd and 3rd day were the worse. you might not get much worse. remeraber you have been here befor and it will pass. lots of water, fruit and vieges and keep your mind busy with ANYTHING to get the focus off what your body is going through.
hold tight!

Thanks, der. 72 hours and still not bad. Last night was restless, but I slept like a rock and am still tired. The first time, I had a terrible time sleeping; not so this time.

Thanks for the encouragement. I will make it (again), hopefully for the last time.

96 hours and nothing. I guess I lucked out this time. Not sure why I didn't go into withdrawal - was extremely tired for a couple of days, but no shakes, sweats, RLS, gooseflesh, nothing. I would have thought I'd have a couple bad days and wonder what the difference was this time.

I do hope it's the last. I realize I can't take narcotic pain medication and wonder what I can do to control the pain now?

have you got more than 1 opion on surgury , i have back issues too , an md said that if we all saw pics of our back , we may be more apt to have surgury , i have some bulging discs , an out of place an so on , he said that almost every one has this or that wrong with there back , but that surgery is realey only , needed 3 to 7% of the time , i ride a low impact bike , do strethching exercises , for the siatica , to help me rebuild it , it is working great , an i live with some pretty bad pain when it come down to it , but the pills in time make the pain worse , an if your job has you doing heavy lifting , not good , i hear people say they do what they got to do , i dont do construcion any more, or to much heavy lifting , becouse its just the senceable thing to do, personaly i dont want to be a cripple,:p , the worst could be yet to come for sure, hope the best for you , scott

Haven't gotten a second opinion on surgery, but have pretty much discounted having it - both for financial and medical reasons. I don't think I could go without narcotics during recovery and really don't relish the thought of living with lots of metal in my back for the rest of my life.

I am thinking about purchasing an inversion table to see if that helps. Also, may begin some stretching exercises.

Still off the pills with no discernable w/d's this time. Guess I'm lucky.
