So, I'm a guy with the most curliest hair in the world ( it poofs up into an afro all the time...) So i finally got my flat iron today and i cheered.. anyways to go on with the story, i took a shower, then i dried my hair up (as best as i could) because my flat iron can straighten 'damp' hair. So when i finally tried my flat iron on my bangs ( I took about 1 inches in width of my hair) MY HAIR it POOFED OUT even more!! i tried it like 5 more times on the same piece, but it just did NOT help! i've washed my hair 3-4 times now... and kept trying, i tried 300 degrees,350 degrees,400 degrees, and lastly the highest temperature 450.
It all didn't work...

frizzy, coarse, Poofs up, and can poof up in an afro.
My hair shampoo is "Herbal Essences, Hello Hydration"
Should i get a new flat iron?(I SERIOUSLY do not want to)
Should I buy any hair accessories?(i don't have much time to)
