Nokia Situations...

Who's using it? I LOVE IT!

Seems like such a simple concept that's hugely functional... I've setup a few situations last night (Bedtime being the most useful)... What are some "Situations" you're using? I'm assuming I won't use any of the location situations as I'm sure this will just kill the battery life ... Thoughts?

I agree. So far I have it setup with Normal from 06:30 to 07:30 and 15:30 to 23:30 workdays and 06:30 to 23:30 on weekends. Meeting from 06:30 to 15:30 during workdays, both normal and meeting have bt turned on. I have silent from 23:30 to 06:30 on all days with no bt. I have not used power save yet. Also, if you need to reboot or turn off the phone you need to open up and close situations or it will not turn on automatically. I have also for fun changed the themes for each of these 3 situations.

10pm-6am "meeting" mode (i used to set this manually every night as my phone is by my bed)
i haven't tried the location-aware situations yet though. anybody try that? was afraid it'd keep the GPS on.

I set up a location-aware profile entitled "Work" that uses wireless cells to identify my location between the hours of 8 and 6 on workdays. Seems to work. I'm also concerned about GPS polling, but I figure it's polling cells all the time anyway so this shouldn't be too bad.

I wish you could set up multiple scenarios for a single profile. Between this time and this time on these days and this other time and this other time on these other days, etc.

Since it is in beta you can post your opinions/suggestions at Nokia Beta Labs and maybe they look into it.
I suggested an autostart option. I also posted that I wanted Ovi maps to work through the FM transmitter.

Hmm, it doesn't seem like either GPS or Cell selection provides a robust location solution for situations in which you move around within the desired target location. Go into an elevator and it switches profile, go the bathroom and it switches again, go to another part of the office and it switches, lose line-of-sight to satellite and it switches, etc. Perhaps GPS isn't using A-GPS to make estimates? My best bet seems to be WiFi, so far. Whenever you're in range of some WiFi APN do... It's still not very robust, though.

You can start and exit, you don't need to leave it open. I assume once you open the app it stays invisible even though you hit exit. But it will not auto start thus I suggested that option on the beta labs website.

i like it so far. but the gps and cell sites don't work very well. i'm pretty sure it uses agps as the 3g icon goes on whenever it's polling. it polls like every 10 seconds. every 5 if you don't have signal or in a parking garage. the wifi seems to be the best so far. i use it to go into silent for school so whenever it sees the school's wifi (which is basically the whole campus) it's on silent
