Nokia Shutting Down OVI FILES Service

did you get the email yet?

well, that didn't last long, did it. wasn't it introduce in April or May 2009? has anyone even used this service?

IIRC they bought some small company to take it over and integrate to Ovi. Wonder how much money they wasted in the process? At the same time, also have to wonder how much it would have cost them to keep it going at least until they actually have some real "mini-computers" in the line up with an actual potential of someone wanting to use a service like this. But overall, probably the best decision to kill it off now.

Yeah, I never used it either. It sat on my desktop not doing much. Dropbox is better; unfortunately though there isn't a native Symbian dropbox app.

Just got the pop up balloon about the discontinuation of service and uninstalled it.

I loved ovi files. It was like having all of the files from your pc's and laptops in the palm of your hand. Once signed up and signed in you could access everything from your home/work computers. Awesome free service and was practically the best thing from ovi. Im pretty disappointed.

Shame...I liked it a lot. It was almost as good as my real wish...which is to use my phone to VNC to my desktop and do things.

Less is more. Cut the services that they don't focus on. They updated the interface for Ovi Files once and that was it. There were many places that they could have made improvements but they didn't so I'm sure no one in Espoo is crying over this. Since I got my N900 last October, I think I've used Ovi Files once and it was from a PC, not my phone.
